In an effort to extend educational opportunities, Summit Academy Monroe SA Prep campus will offer a core set of 2nd/3rd grade morning classes with elective options in the afternoon for the 2020-21 school year!

Site Director, Erin Duke, reports that these new classes will be taught by some great Summit Academy elementary instructors.

According to Ms. Duke, "Our new 2nd/3rd grade classes will provide a quality and structured option for younger students, without sacrificing the fun and engaging learning environment our campuses are known for."

Parents may register their 2nd/3rd grade students in a full "track" of core subjects to maximize the first four hours of the school day and give students a great introduction into upper elementary studies.

A hand-picked assortment of elective classes will round out the day to develop their more “creative” pursuits.

The 2020-21 core track will include Early American History, Language Arts FUNdamentals, Math FUNdamentals, and Science: Plants & Insects. Students must be registered for all 4 classes. (This core track does NOT include the same à la carte option as our other Summit Academy offerings.)

Launching students into a historical study with quality literature and fun, hands-on experiences, Early American History will be taught by Jacqueline Whetzel.

Language Arts FUNdamentals, also taught by Ms. Whetzel, will introduce fundamental grammar concepts and themes through games and award-winning literature to build a solid foundation for future language arts studies.

Math FUNdamentals will employ interactive manipulatives and fun-to-review major mathematical concepts, preparing students for 4th-grade math. This math class, as well as the core science class, will be taught by Devanie Schay.

In Science: Plants & Insects, students will use hands-on experiments and vibrant lessons to learn the science behind the amazing world of plants and insects.

Our afternoon, 2nd/3rd grade à la carte elective classes include music, art, dance, and physical education; these will be offered only to students enrolled in the 4-subject morning track. Our objective in adding these electives is to aid you in educating well-rounded, balanced students.
