Do you find yourself tired of driving from one activity to the next each day? It certainly can be exhausting taking one kid here, another there, and then the thought pops up, “What are we going to have for dinner tonight with no time left after all this driving around?!” You've been there, right? Well, that is the beautiful thing about Summit Academy; your kids can do their extra-curriculars, like dance, after their science or history class, and you can keep your evenings open for family time. This year, I am thrilled to be joining Summit as the ballet teacher. I have had a passion for ballet and have been in the dance world for 30 years this fall! I can hardly believe it, but love it! During high school, I attended a pre-professional dance studio in my academic years, and the Joffrey Ballet’s Summer Intensive in NYC for three summers from 2000-2003. After graduating, I began my professional career joining the Georgia Ballet in 2003 and later the Louisville Ballet in Kentucky in 2004. In 2005, I returned to Georgia to return to school to earn a degree in art, and then, too, began teaching dance in the Lilburn area. My love for teaching grew and grew as I had the privilege of instructing the smallest of budding ballerina’s from age 3 through high school. Watching them grow in their dancing, and seeing the light bulbs go off when it begins to make sense is one of my greatest joys! This past year, I had stepped back from teaching dance so I could focus on homeschooling my 1st grader, and also to return to the stage with a Christian Contemporary Dance Company in Marietta. It has been delightful to return to the studio and stage again, for it has grown me in my craft as a dancer, as well as given me a deeper desire to pour this gift of dance from the Lord into your developing dancer! Come join me at Summit in 2018-2019, for Ballet Essentials (3-5yr), Ballet Essentials (6-8yr), and Contemporary Dance (3rd-8th). We are going to have a blast! — Kellyn McMichael, Summit T-38 instructor
